Re: 91 ezgo low rpms
I did hold the throttle open by hand,
best I can remember the valve adjusters was all close(the threads) I will have to check the over charging thing. I was grabbing at straws and thought maybe the ignitor was going bad and since it is mounted on a plate along with v/r and solinoid it was more easy to just change the whole plate |

this keep the engine from reving up enough to pull the cart. it was running, the carb went bad (had to choke it like crazy and run it with the choke half on)all i did was replace the carb & fuel pump, now it will not rev up enough to engage the clutch. |

Yes, your compression is low enough where this engine won't run very well. 115 pounds is 55 pounds less than what I would want to see. If I were working on this engine I would not put any more parts on it until I removed the engine and rebuilt it. It will perform like you wouldn't believe after getting that compression back to where it should be. If rebuild is done correct this engine should have 170 pounds of compression on both cylinders. I don't know where you got the new carburetor and fuel pump but if I had to guess I would say ebay or amazon ? I am just giving you my opinion. Good luck |

Re: 91 ezgo low rpms
ok thanks for the advice I will
look into a rebuild when the weather gets a little cooler. The barb and fuel pump came from a local ez-go dealer. thanks to every one that responded. |

Re: 91 ezgo low rpms
I had same problem last year. Not knowing exactly what was going on I adjusted valves, checked comp and rebuilt carb. I found the needle valve had slipped off the float assembly which was causing too much gas at start up. As you say I had it on jack stands and ran fine with no load but under load would not rev up. I also found the clip that hold throttle cable to governor lever was loose and not secure. Fixed that and then cart ran great. I don't know which item fixed cart but that is my experience. Good Luck, Tom
