I don't run it very long at a time when trying to get it
to work but the exhaust gets warm enough I don't want
lay my hand on it.

Always Cold making sure you hold the throttle wide open. I usually remove the red wire on coil when doing this.

so I guess I have low compression as i find
its supposed to be between 120 & 160.
is this low enough to keep this motor from
revving up?

A timing belt that slipped would cause the compression to be low but I don't think it would be uneven like yours. 115 & 145 is not what you want to see.
You could add a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder with 115 and see if it jumps higher.
Did you manually hold the throttle wide open when testing ?
Did you pay real good attention to where you adjusted the valves ? A sign of the intakes being worn out is more threads showing on the two middle valves ?

Not having to do with compression but it is possible if this cart starting doing this all of sudden it could be overcharging . Put a volt meter on your battery with this cart jacked up and see what yours shows . Still your compression needs to be addressed but try this . I did notice in your first post or two that you installed a new V/R and was wondering why ? did you test the charging system ? just a thought.
