Reconfiguring QuiQ 4818 (Model# 910-4800) from 42 to 48v
Hey folks... I recently upgraded my 42v Clubcar to a 48v system including new controller and Lithium batteries.
I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to reconfigure the charger from 42v to 48v. From the factory it's a 48v charger, but the mfg of my cart changed it from 48v to 42v given I had 7 x 6v batteries in parallel. The charger has a sticker on the side of it that says "Reconfigured to 42v). So, I want to change it back to a 48v configuration. I've found videos ( see here) on how to change from one charge setting to another, but have not been able to find information on what the different charge profiles are from the factory (factory meaning maker of charger, not the maker of my cart). These are LiFePo4 batteries so I'm not so concerned about the nitty gritty of the actual charge profile as most of all those characteristics are important for lead acid batteries, where LFP will just take the amps and don't need to maintain a float for health. So I just want to up the absorbtion voltage to like 55-58v (94%-100% SOC). Given the 42v setting the absorbtion v should be set somewhere around 50v. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

anyone know where I can ask questions of this charger? Delta-q is less than helpful. No tech support line.

Send me a pm with your email and name. I will send a direct email to my dq contact and ask for you.

Re: Reconfiguring QuiQ 4818 (Model# 910-4800) from 42 to 48v
I took a quick look at some old reference material I have, and DQ had stated: "Algorithm 37 is intended for 42V battery packs running on a 48V charger" which would have been based on Trojan T105 batteries.
Reading that would indicate to me that to get to the 48 volts or appropriate overcharge you merely need to switch back to a a standard algorithm for the brand of batteries you are installing now. A DQ charger can hold up to 10 algorithms in the charger so you may have one already loaded you can use. For safety reasons I will of course encourage you to contact DQ for a specific setting recommend by them and the battery vendor. For your own education however I've added the photo showing the current/voltage with bulk/absorption/finish graphs: #1 is the standard for T105, no battery taps (like 12v) (Trojan 150ah-260ah FLA) #2 is the standard for T105, with a battery tapped (Trojan 150ah-260ah FLA) #4 is the standard for US2200 (US Battery 165ah-245ah FLA) #5 is the standard for Trojan 30/31XHS (Trojan 85aj-h-150ah 12V FLA or Exide AGM) #42 is the standard for Discover AGM (Discover/DEKA 200ah-400ah AGM) |
