Default Setting points on a par car

Its a 91 but I went back to the points set up because the electronic ignition took a dump. Its been working great for about 2 years but I suddenly lost spark and the points looked pretty thin.

TDC and about .025? Sound good?

If the throttle barely moves then your cable likely needs lubed or replaced. Mine needed lubed. I just forced wd-40 through mine. (Not correct but it worked). I did order a new one just in case but they are pretty pricey.

You have to download a pre 86 manual to get the timing procedure. Personally I would do some searching on the forum for HEI conversion. I think there is a sticky. I did that to mine and it works great. Spend the money on a good module. I had one bad one out of the box from Oreily Auto parts which I returned and just got an Accell which has been solid since. The china one I used lasted a month before it would get hot and shut down.

I figured out that I had a spring missing on the throttle. Now it works fine. However, im missing the center part of the ignition coil so much plug wire isn't staying on. I gotta find a friggin ignition coil now. Im definitly doing the HEI upgrade soon. I need it for next weekend but I think after that im gonna do that. Any idea what coil to get? Previously I tried the MSD blaster coil and it didn't work. I ended up taking it back and using the original one

I know it has to be 3.2 to 4.2 ohms

any ol coil will work. Just check the resistance and put an inline resistor in.

Check out the "ignition coil" sticky at the top of the Harley section. There is a lot of great info there about which ones will work with your cart and where to find them.

Awesome. I'll look it up right now. Thanks. I tried using the "search function" because I hate being "that guy" but it starts to pop up then disappears. It won't let me search anything

I am well aware. The work around for that is "copy / paste" functionality.

Write your search terms in your browser's address bar or somewhere else convenient. Long press on the characters that you just typed and choose to copy them. Open up the search option on BGW. Long press the search box and paste your copied characters into the box.
