Default 85 ds

Have a friend who bought a golf cart. Looks like a 85 ds. Can someone give me insight on it and what i would need to update to a 48v new controller and motor.

Thumbs up Re: 85 ds

Time and money.
I'd just go buy a 48 volt cart and sell this one. Unless you have a junkyard full of 48 volt carts your gonna have as much in it in parts as just buying a cart.

I'm doing this upgrade to this exact cart right now. 1985 Club DS Electric, 36V to 48V, Solenoid/Resistor to Alltrax. It's about $2350.

Here is what you need:
8V Batteries ($160 EA) $1,000.00
Alltrax 48V Controller (SR48500) $525.00
0-5K Throttle $72.00
400A Heavy Duty Solenoid $51.00
Resistor (10W 470 ohm) $5.00
Diode (3 Amp) $5.00
DPI 48V Charger $295.00
2 ga. Battery Cables $150.00
Wire (10 awg, 16 awg) $110.36
400 Amp Fuse $47.00
Forward Reverse Switch $71.00

I developed a custom wiring diagram and attached it for information. At this point I've only test driven the cart and it worked great. I hit 26 mph downhill and did about 10 mph up a very steep hill. I'll do a total write up once I'm finished with the whole project and all the bugs are worked out.

Just a cheap amazon PB-6. I had to mod the accelerator pedal to get an extra 1/2" of throw to the box. Also needed to buy some all-thread rod to reach the mounting location.
