Yes...!
You need to leave yourself plenty of room between holes 2 and 3 so you have have enough room for your 45deg cut.

Me too. And the photo inside the RV threw me off too. Couldn't tell it was folded down.

Quite clever idea!

What length are the henges?

And what was the drop you archived?

I have the same issue with a cargo trailer and trying to get my lifted cart inside it.

I did the same mod on a couple lifted carts I had. You can adjust the length of the hinges to whatever you need for clearance. There's really no set length. Each cart I did were different heights and I made the adjustment in the hinges. I also found that using nylon washers on the outer bolts really helped to smooth out the drop procedure.

So the drop is based on the length of the hinges?

Pretty much. The bottom pivot side would be attached pretty close to the diagonal cut. Then, the length of the hinges will dictate how much pivot you have. Another thing I did on mine was glue some tire pieces on the roof where the cut pieces touched to avoid any plastic damage from the sharp edge while traveling. Things get kind of bouncy in the toy hauler garage.

Definitely a good idea, I had thought about just wrapping it, but I definitely like the tire idea...
Do you have any measurements on the hinges you could help me out with by chance?

I honestly don't recall the exact measurement. Was a couple years ago with my last toy hauler (the garage was shorter with the two beds). I removed the top bed in my current rig and now have the needed height. The length of the hinge less the distance from the bottom hole to the cut will be the drop when it pivots.

What are your plans for the windshield? I dropped mine 4-5" and ended up cutting the top portion of my windshield the same amount.
