Just because a bolt is "steel" doesn't mean its Good Steel.
Quite often the hardware supplied in these chinese golf cart "kits" is bottom of the barrel junk that is the cheapest stuff they could get their hands on. Good quality u-bolts will stretch slightly after they are torqued, and then you often need to go back and re-check the torque on them after they've been in service for a week or so. But they will never be loose, usually a re-torque means you give them an extra 1/4 to 1/2 turn. After that they hold that torque for the rest of their lifetime. The cheapo junk ones will just continue to stretch until they break. |
