We took Vicki out night riding last evening. We haven't done that for ages. We circled both islands and stopped off up at the north end beach. It was interesting as from there we could see the rain bands coming across the bay from Dover Delaware. Across the marina's inlet we spotted a Black Crowned Night Heron which is a very rare sighting for us. The combo of the 4 LED headlight do a perfect job of lighting the way without some of the blinding light from carts with the LED light bar.

We had a tornado just pass north of here from Ida backlash. Heavy winds and rain BUT didn't lose power

It just dawned on me that as of 9/1 I have lived full time on this island for eleven years. Time flies when you are having fun Bought the G 14 in 2008. It didn't get driven that much when I was a summer weekender here.

Another 20 hour oil change today. That means 222 hours on the VC 460 long rod conversion,390 hours on the VC460 engine and 750 hours on the G 14 itself.

I moved the El Cheapo GPS speedo from the top of the dash to the roofs upright support leg for better viewing. I wondered if this metal item would block the satellite signal. It did not, in fact it locks the signals faster now.

While were were 2 island touring last evening I noticed a strange sound from the engine. Examination revealed the exhaust manifold gasket had failed. Ordered 2 new ones from VC. So as to not to do any damage to the head Vicki will be parked until the new gaskets arrive and I take the exhaust apart to determine the cause. MAYBE my single muffler support at the far end is not enough. I hope something else did not damage the header flange or head bolts. Stay tuned ?

Pulled Vicki's exhaust system off this a.m. and found the frame mount bracket weld was broken. It was probably enough to cause uneven pressure on the gasket despite both studs still being tight. I am going to have to make a better mounting system.

Spent a whole lot of time grinding, welding, and prying making sure when the parts come in my new engine cradle muffler mount is sturdy enough.
