Default Icon Steering Column Removal

Hey all! New to this forum! I recently purchased a new street legal ICON I40L. The steering column is several degrees off center and driving my wife crazy. I removed the after market Momo Wheel and the column retaining nut but cant seem to remove the mount to re spline to center. Didnt want to beat on it! Has anyone removed the mount assembly on one of these? Thanks in Advance!

Nope. Mine came way off as well, I just deal with it and doesn't bother me for some reason and I have crazy OCD lol! Let me know how you fix it, I will eventually get to it as well.

I did it like this: I removed 6 screws using an unusual #3 hexagon bit I believe it was. Removed steering wheel from adapter. Tried to then untighten large nut now clearly visible. Just couldn't get enough torque on it, so I reattached the steering wheel without the center horn button exposing the steering column lug nut when viewed through the steering wheel. Now I was able to hold the steering wheel with one hand and reach the wrench through where the horn button would normally be and turn the wrench to unscrew the steering column nut. I now had the necessary torque to loosen that nut. Then I just patiently wiggled the steering wheel with my hands at 3 and 9 o'clock. Then the whole adapter and wheel popped off the steering column. I then rotated it a bit and gently set it back down onto the spline steering column in its new position. I didn't tighten it down yet. I was careful to take it out for a test drive. Glad I did that before I tightened that lug nut down because I had to pull it off while I pulled over to the side of the road and rotate it a bit more. Once I saw it was tracking straight I tightened that lug nut down real snug and reassembled the steering wheel. Now the obsessive compulsive side of me is happy the steering wheel tracks straight on straightaways! It probably took me longer to explain the process than to actually do it. 😆

And you took no pictures to share with the rest of us?!

What's under that horn button anyway? Are there any wires to the actual "button"?

I can see perhaps splicing the current horn button (end of turn signal arm) so that both would work for fun.

two contacts. If you google golf cart steering wheel horn kit you'll come across some amazon stuff that pretty much looks similar.

The problem is that the stalk/column is not hollow so you would have to run the wires on the outside and get all twisted up when steering. Would need to get super fancy to overcome that given the placement of the contacts.

Ah that's probably why they left them on the signal. Ya probably not worth the effort.
