I think at least one cart manufacturer used that 2 x SPDT Solenoid as an OEM setup.

One thing to keep in mind is that unlike the main contactor where the current stops flowing as soon as you lift your foot from the pedal, the motor current continues to flow for a little longer so if your reversing contactor setup opens/closes with the pedal (as the previous drawing) the contacts will be opening under load.

Scotty, thanks for that. It looks pretty much identical to the one I drew up.
The main ingredient is the SPDT 500A 72V contactors, which Im looking for a source.

cant that be held to a minimum with the reverse function
or plug braking?

Sergio, not sure if that applies as I will be using a rocker switch. Well actually Ive come up with a neat little "shifter"
I just wish I could make a detent for reverse lockout to prevent accidental engagement.

We may be talking about different things, that link was about providing delayed off power to the center terminal of your FNR switch so the reversing contactor does not go off/on every time the pedal is cycled but also does not stay on indefinitely if the key switch was accidentally left on.

Can you add some kind of stopper block that needs to swivel/slide out from under the push button in order to press it all the way down to reverse?

If it is an up down just make down forward. When you need reverse just lift and hold it

its using the same rocker mount pod as a newer model Club Car
I just added the joystick type switch, which looks kinda cool.
I may hinge a flap to prevent it from going into reverse accidentally.
I kinda like the idea of a shutoff of the controls after 5 mins of being in reverse

first version of the lock out flap using a scrap hinge and a piece of plastic glued on top of hinge. The glue wasnt even set up before I already changed it to a simpler version, using #9 galvanized wire bent to form a U. Both versions work rather well, but the 2nd version is a little neater.
