Default GSXR 1000 columbia par car shuttle.

Well here we go....... I am going to attempt to install a 2006 gsxr 1000 engine into a columbia par car limo.... I will try to document everything that happens with pics or vids. This will be a slow progress... i can only go as far as my wallet and wife will tolerate. With that being said I am going to try doing this on a tight budget. anything that I can save cash on will be noted.. Tools , Parts, or just crazy ideas to make this as affordable as possible.. I hope I can get info and or ideas from anyone who has done this. also i hope my progress and ideas will help someone who might also want to do something similar. I will stop rambling.

Thanks..... I got it like this.. I have been trading up to the cart. and I also traded up to the engine... so I have minimal investment so far.. I am sure its gonna get expensive now. I will still barter other parts as needed.

Oh yeah, That reminds me, I will also post all mods that I do including the sound system and upholstery, paint, I am going to find an inexpensive way to sit. I like the beard type off road seats but there is no way i am spending that much..

maybe find some used seats from a rhino or similar utv.. ? junk yard?

My ultimate goal at the end of this build is to have a purpose built buggy that I can take the family out to the dunes or mountains or river or golf course or races or around the neighborhood etc.. u get the idea.

I am going to post some ideas that I have. Please feel free to input ur .02 cents.

The first thing I am contemplating is the seating. It is set up like a shuttle with a rear facing third seating area. Very cool, but I have a family of 4. do I really want the option to take others with us? I am thinking of ditching that seat in favor of a small trunk area to hold gear or whatever. I have also seen a rear facing seat that folds up or down to accommodate passengers or cargo.. That might be cool. ..

I would use the rear for storage.

Good call..

Next thought is the rear diff. I could run the engine sideways and have a drive shaft from the sproket side of the gixxer straight to the differential. This would work because the diff is not centered on this cart. it is off to the passenger side. so if the gixxer engine is sideways with the headers facing the drivers side and the sproket closer to the passenger side. it almost looks as if it would line up perfectly. I would probably have to re gear the diff. I dont even know if they have different gear sets for this type of axle..

I will go research now...

Are you talking about a drive train set up like this:

Except using your rear axle. Although for speed I would go for the replacement of the axle with a mini sprint axle like what rifter did with his I believe, this would be chain driven then.
