Marathon mounts and wiring?
I have a 92 Marathon that is not running and it checks out to be both the ignitor and the pulsar are bad. I use this cart for golf so I would like to keep the pedal start feature, I know the pulsar would be on the new motor of course but would the ignitor be wired around? or would I still have to replace it? I thought I read somewhere on here that the great folks at VC don't make a mount for the Marathon cart, am I mistaken? Thanks fore your help
I know a lot of you guys have already been there. Jim |

Re: Marathon mounts and wiring?
Is it a 2 stroke or 4 stroke? The 4 stroke is pretty easy to wire and you don't need any of the cart ignition parts, just leave the gen hooked up stock. 2 stroke you lose reverse and would still not need any ignition parts from the cart. So the engine is around 300 and you need clutch adapter for 50 then odds an ends like exhaust and so on, plus a mount if you don't make your own.

Re: Marathon mounts and wiring?
It is a 4 stroke unless I have one trying to get it running then I guess that would count as a 5

Re: Marathon mounts and wiring?
This is a golf cart only I am done with my racing days but hot rod is still in my blood. I thought the price of an ignitor and a pulsar I could just about do a swap if I didn't get all cra cra. Since it is a cart for golf I will want it quiet as I can and want the starter and pedal start to work right. What kind of mount has people been using on their builds The Marathon are different I guess from what I am understanding? Mine is a 92. I sent Geoff and E-mail but it got screwed up and went through my wifes address so it may be hard for her to make it right when she tries to translate to him my needs. Jim

Re: Marathon mounts and wiring?
When I spoke to Geoff a month ago he said the Marathon would need a custom mount. I'm in the same boat and hope someone offers one for sale before I get around to needing it.

Re: Marathon mounts and wiring?
As soon as we can find a 92 marathon 4-stroke for sale....you better believe the first thing im doing is ripping out the engine and making a mount for it :)
They seem to be really hard to find out here! |

Re: Marathon mounts and wiring?
my marathon has a clone in it. plate to set the motor on , then I used angle iron to connect that to the stock mount. starts and stop s on the pedal like normal. I did have to lift it and remove the govenor off of the rear end in order to clear everything. I love it .

Re: Marathon mounts and wiring?
Too bad your so far away Geoff, I would let you take my 92 Marathon since it is my "spare" cart and it isn't doing anything now anyway. Jim
