Re: Turn signal and brake light wiring
It is a light bar with two wires comming out to conect. The lights work fin but not the signal. I am thinking I need to tap into the orange signal lights on the sides vice the two wires comming from the main. I wired it exactley as the diagram and this is the last thing I havent tried. Light bars, is ther somethign different?
Thanks, |

Re: Turn signal and brake light wiring
Take a look at the socket that the amber bulbs are in. If that socket only has 2 wires coming off it you have a simple running light that is intended to be ON while the headlights are on. It will not blink because it is tied into the headlight circuit. If that same socket has 3 wires we can work something out.
Another option would be to isolate the hot wire for each of these running lights from the headlight circuit and hook them to the appropriate turn signal wires. This means they will be OFF when the headlights are on, but they would blink when the lever is moved. |

Re: Turn signal and brake light wiring
I ran into this on a buddies cart at the beach. He wanted the amber running lights and turn signals. I ended up placing another set of amber lights below the cowl so he would have both. Myself I didn't like the way it looked but it was his cart.
Look at the amber lights and if there is two wires then you can cut them and run the wires back to the turnsignals. You will have to run your own wires though. Most amber lights are singal elements. Snip the two wires off the connectors that goes to the amber lights and tie the two grounds together and run seperate wires for the light back to signal lever wiring and connect as directions state. Run the grounds back to the battery - post. |

Re: Turn signal and brake light wiring
I think I have this figured out but, can someone take a look at this picture and let me know if I am tracking? If this works then I will tackle the brake light/switch. I plan to connect the hots from the outside amber but leave the grounds connected as they are.

Re: Turn signal and brake light wiring
Thanks Andy,
Tried it and no go. so I put the ground to a terminal ground, stil nothing. from the turn lever there is a white ground. grounded it and nothing. Then there is a hot for the brake switch. I thought this might need a rune to complete the circuit. Stil nothing. I am lost! unless possibly te turn lever is bad? |

Re: Turn signal and brake light wiring
Do you have the turn signal hot wired? You have to feed the turn signal to get them to work.

Re: Turn signal and brake light wiring
Yes, the red wire with the fuse I connected to a positive battery terminal. The black ground is to the negative terminal. The only wires I do not have connected are the white and the red brake switch wire. I did the white lever ground but still nothing. The hot from the bulb is going into the flasher as per directions. Still missing something?
