Default Did a gov bypass but need some help

I did the gov bypass today on the father in laws G2 as described in the sticky. I moved the foot pedal one tooth back so that the carb would open all of the way. Went for a test drive and it kept bogging or surging at the top end like I was hitting the rev limiter. I then moved the pedal back to the original position so it would not open the carb as far and it seemed to help some but it is still surging at the top end. How do I adjust it more so that I will not hit the rev limiter when the pedal is on the floor? It gets annoying when you are cruising along and the things surges.

I have an 86 G2 and did the same job this weekend on mine, with the same results. I ended up leaving the governer hooked up and adjusting the 10mm cinch nut enough to allow reasonable speed with the pedal turned back 1 notch and down all the way at full speed. I took a lot of adjusting. I never was able to get what I wanted with the cable rerouted to the carb, so I stayed with the governer. I nearly ran out of beer and patience a couple times, but I made it through.

Thanks for the response. I hooked the governor back up this morning and am starting to adjust it but now I have no low idle when I push the pedal down. After a while it gains rpms and runs fine. As always another issue with this thing.
