Re: Starting Over - New Dog, Old Tricks
The noise is caused by "ground loops". Make sure that all of your commons are tied to the same spot. (bus bar)

I have a line running from the negative terminal to both reducers now - would that cause a loop? Trying to understand exactly what to look for here, appreciate your help |

Re: Starting Over - New Dog, Old Tricks
All the "ground" wires (B- wires actually) have to be tied to the exactly the same point electrically.
If they aren't, the difference in potential between the points they are tied to will cause current to flow, which in turn will superimpose electrical noise across the resistance between those points, which can be heard on audio systems and seen on video systems. If I ever install an audio system in my cart, I'll use something like a 1/4" thick 2"x6" solid copper ground bus that is isolated from the cart's body/frame and all the "ground" wires will be the same length. Carts are noisy electrically, the controller puts out distorted pulses that generate all sorts of harmonics, and voltage reducers also generate electrical noise, as do LED lights. |
