Nitrous on 24mm bored 3-circuit carb
I bought this little toy nitrous oxide kit off of ebay for my 460. Well made for what it is. I set it up on the new 24 after I got it dialed in. Went to do a test run and ----------------- it's very cold up here. The short of it all -- nitrous is a warm weather toy. I got it moving along and pull the trigger --- one burp and low and behold the trigger mechanism was frozen solid and it plugged up the jet. And that was me holding it in my bare hand - so it had a small level of heat in it. Got to figure a way to keep it warm.

You could take the heated snowmobile grips and adapt them.

They used to sell those rear window defrosters 12v, but would need a box to enclose it if it did work. Heated grip idea seems better, or tear apart a heated car seat.

Re: Nitrous on 24mm bored 3-circuit carb
Well I tried the little nitrous kit again -- liked it -- but it's real hard to push the button when your holding the wheel - the canister and push the button at the same time. So I decided to go all the way with a simple dry nitrous system. My biggest problem in my setup would be having the cylinder fulled. Long story short -- I found a Rail Operator who drag races and runs a repair shop about 10 miles from my house. 6.00 a lb for nitrous and he'll fill it while you wait. I have a 12 oz bottle in my setup with a safety switch on the carb so the system can't be triggered before your at WOT. That's the only time you can set it off. I have a 90 degree elbow that is 2-1/2 to 3" as to accommodate a big air filter - 8x10". The couple is drilled and tapped for a dry nitrous fan nozzle and it has a .018 jet insert where the line hooks onto the nozzle. I'm still working out the best jet and I open my adjustable main needle a 1/4 turn to give it a little more fuel. One last thing, I've been trying to get a video of this in action. I need a camera operator who understands.

Re: Nitrous on 24mm bored 3-circuit carb
In the past Ray and I talked about these small engines being under carburated. I have found that changing out to the 24mm carburetor is given me an increase in performance -- making it fully adjustable gave me even more power. I have a PZ33 33mm pumper carburetor. I'm working on an idea to machine a new fuel bowl -- one thick enough to screw a needle into. My goal is to make as much horse power as possible with a max rpm of 5500.

Re: Nitrous on 24mm bored 3-circuit carb
Well I have to say slow is the only way to go if you want to go fast. I've been working on the nitrous jetting - just enough to let you know it's there. The first time out I had a .020 jet installed. I think it was too much - it was almost like TV. Extreme acceleration - intense increase in exhaust sound - increased rpm by about 750 rpm. I was very uncomfortable with how much increase it actually did produce. I jetted it down to .016 and will do some runs at this jetting and see how it runs. Still don't have a decent video, I'm working at it.
