Unhappy 1980 Electric 36V Club Car

Have new batteries, and all test with 6.1V, but when I get to a even a slight grade the cart slows down. When I get to the top it speeds up again.

The batteries aren't fully charged. At 6.1 volts they are only at 50% charge. They should all be showing 6.3. Your total voltage should be reading 37.8 after a full charge. Check all your connections. Loose terminals and corrosion can cause resistance.

Thanks for the battery guide, it will come in handy. Would anyone have a wiring diagram for this 1980 Club Car, want to make sure I have not messed anything up.

Should be one in the "Stickies" at top of this section. And welcome to BGW.

Checked the connections, and put the charger back on last night, and checking the batteries one-five read 6.4, which I think means they are fully charged. But battery number six only read 6.1. Could this be a problem battery?. The pack reads 38.5.

After a full charge (16 hours or so) unplug the charger for a couple of minutes, then reconnect it and let it charge until it stops again. Wait 12-24 hours (24 preferably) after to taken measurements to see actual voltage readings from your batteries and report back here.

Since the other 5 are all fully charged, try charging that single battery with a home type charger set on 6 volts.
