Re: '82 Columbia Switch Fix
Hey jeggers!!
wasn't too bad--- 2-Cole Hersee spdt 5 term solenoids= $56.99/shipping from Ryder Fleet Products.com get the good ones-it's well worth the extra $.The knock offs are junk-top terms pull through ect. Had the welding cable.(old set of homemade jumper cables) 20-cable lugs =$11 on E-Bay 4-Diodes= Had them-picked off other electonics I had sitting around-Don't know the ratings but the ones that I thnk should be used are 1N5404- about $2-3 at Radio Shack.Gonna' try & eliminate the use f them by finding a spdt microswitch! 1-On/Off Key Switch= Had it off of a Yami G-2 I found somewhere. 1-spdt 3 position switch (On-Off-On)=Found a pair of Really Kool Russian military switches for $11 on Ebay-the tip glows green on its own -Definately radioactive! Stainless plate-found (I hate working with stainless, but it looks kool!) 2-Miller High Life 30 packs=$23 (on sale) All & All-under $100-& seems to work great so far!!!! |

After three (yes three) ignition switch replacements in less than a year, I'm in the process of doing what you did - converting over to solenoids. I've ordered the Cole-Hersee relays. Been looking at the pics you posted of the relays and the wiring. Would you by chance have a wiring schematic that you could post that shows which wire(s) that you connected to which posts on the solenoids? Thanks so much! Maddog |
