I've ordered a BV-24 carb to put on my 91 marathon 3pg to see what the difference will be. It just acts like it wants more fuel.

As I mentioned a few years ago when this thread started, LOL there really isn't a lot of difference with the bigger carb unless the exhaust is also swapped out ... If You're starving for fuel, I'd do a good once over of the whole system IE pump, crank seals, all gaskets, jets, etc to make sure You're not leaking into the system somewhere - if that doesn't do the trick You can take some time and SLOWLY work on opening up your jetting a bit (a lot of trial and error as well as a healthy dose of patience helps here)

Thread should be stickied :)

I'm milling out the reed block for a large single petal, and will donate it to any one doing as bang-up a job as the OP, on the comparison. I'm thinking it'll help.

Been a while since I've gone through some of the EZGO gasser postings. I am in possession of the milled out custom reed block. (Thanks GDFP!!) When the build happens, it will be on an 82 Marathon 3 wheeler running an unknown year 2pg (new enough to have no points) and the 88 carburetor and exhaust. Will also be running a very nice milled and polished head. I'll make a thread about the comparison and link to this one when it happens.

Pics of the custom reed block.

Maybe I am not understanding or I am miss reading. But did you put the BV 24 on with the smaller factory exhaust and it ran even better and faster? I am asking because I have an 83 gasser with a robins 2pg with the original factory exhaust. It currently has a bv18 on it and I was thinking about an upgrade. Rebuild kit for the BV 18 is 50 bucks and i found a new BV 24 carb for 80. So which way you think I should go?

Brew said that it ran rich with the BV24 and smaller exhaust at anything but WOT. Sounds like a good excuse to fab a CAI to help lean it out to me though.

Yep, it ran rich with the small exhaust and big carb - still quite a difference at speed, though ...
