Starting my 81 DS rebuild.

I'm hopefully trading in my 84 today. Never done anything to it in the five years I've owned it. Upgrade wise that is, but its a beater and time for something worth spending some money on. Probably not too too much though. The "new" one will be a 96 36V. After joining and reading a lot of posts in attempt to learn, I'm afraid about how much money I may end up spending. I'm already thinking 48V conversion when battery time comes, which likely wont be long.

why not just spend some time looking for a 48 volt cart? than you eliminate the upgrade and can concentrate on just beefing the 48 volt up...........seems senseless to buy another 36 volt cart than spend 700.00 on batteries and another 1000 to upgrade to 48 volts.........grab 48 volt cart...........................

CC 48v are over rated in my opinion. 36v Ezgo DCS and PDS carts will run circles around them.
P.S.
A 36v CC running on 48v will out perform a 48v CC
Of course you can always find a 48v cart and stuff a 36v motor in it.... But stay away from the Regen I and II carts, again just my opinion.

scotty i agree but my point was why buy a 36 volt cart and than spend all that money to upgrade to a 48 volt cart..............just buy the 48 volt cart instead and than if you want just drop a 36 volt motor in it...........much cheaper than the other way.....................but both my 48 volt carts have 36 volt motors in them and by all means yes stay away from the reagans................................

Yes, just avoid the Regen I & II and don't be shocked when your 95-96 series 48v cart is slower than your 1985 36v cart.
That was my point based on my experience....
