Home Depot - Tony Stewart EZ-Go Gas Cart
I just got an EZ-Go gas cart and would like to find out more information about it (ie, what type, engine size, specs...). I am new to the cart world and would like to also do some maintenance on this cart. I found the serial number plate and have some up with the following info:
Serial: 761377 Date: H2293 (I figured out it's a '93 model) It looks like it was a promo model put out by EZ-Go for Home Depot/Tony Stewart/NASCAR fans because it's got stickers ALL over it. It's got a lift kit and some oversized tires (I'm assuming those were part of the promo kit). Does any of this help to identify what model of EZ-Go I have? I downloaded ALL of the PDF's in the sticky, but want to make sure I'm looking at the right model. Thanks in advance. |

Welcome to the forum saltymut...................
It could be as you said........... It could be one that any avid carter would decorate also............ It could also be one that Tony actually used in the pits. It does appear to be a a 1993. At any rate, ask questions because there is always sombody near. |

I'll post some pics for reference, but do you think EZ-Go would be able to shed some light on this if I call them and give them the serial number? Gee...... what an ingenious idea... using the phone!!!
I'll post pics when I get a chance. It's a beefy looking ride. |

Re: Home Depot - Tony Stewart EZ-Go Gas Cart
In 93 most all the carts were Marathon based with 295cc 4 strokes, they did still use the 3pg 2 stroke engine in some carts also.
1 spark plug = 2 stroke 2 spark plugs = 4 stroke The manuals have info on the 295 engine but I don't think there's any info on the 2 strokes. |

Re: Home Depot - Tony Stewart EZ-Go Gas Cart
More than likely it was built by an avid Tony Stuart/NASCAR fan. We see these kinds of cars all the time on the forum. One of the more commom mods are NASCAR'in it all up.
P.S. Your cart was built February 22, 1993. One more little tattle tale clue that it is not a factory built cart is back in 93 I don't believe the factory condoned lifting golf cars at all for any reason. Ruredy could shed some light on that more than I could. |

It has only been within the last few years that Ezgo has started selling lift kits and such. They finely figured out there was some big dollars going into this, sport, hobby, whatever you call it. To paraphrase (i don't remember if it's exactly) what the president of Ezgo said in an interview when asked about it, We don't condone what they're doing to are cars, they're taking our cars and making monsters out of them. I laughed like hell when I read that.

Re: Home Depot - Tony Stewart EZ-Go Gas Cart
Thanks for the replies. Very useful info.
I took a few pics this morning on my way out the door.... but forgot to bring the USB cable to my camera so I could pull them off the chip. I'll post them this evening. It has 2 spark plugs, so I know it's a 4-stroke engine. This cart was salvaged from hurricane Ike that recently hit the Texas coast. It was definitely submerged in salt water, but seems to be in fair shape. I have been oiling and greasing every visible joint and pulley that I see. I've flushed the engine and replaced the oil. I've removed the gas tank and thoroughly cleaned it also. What other areas do I need to concentrate on? Fluids replaced? |

Re: Home Depot - Tony Stewart EZ-Go Gas Cart
Get out your tools and start checking all the electrical's. I would imagine you will end up replacing ALL the microswitches. Theres not really any way to get in there and clean the salt water out of them.
Shoot some lube down all the cables or take them off and soak the whole cable in some diesel or some kind of oil. Anywhere there was salt water is gonna come back to haunt you if you dont get it clean. Wash out the frame rails real good or that will be the first thing to go. Pictures would be the sure way to figure out what you have. |
