need opinions on drive clutch options

Ok guys I pulled the clutch off my engine and it is toast.The belt has wore through the aluminum side of the sheave with the flying wieghts.
Now here is my dilema...
1. My motor is shot so I am going the HF clone motor route.
2. Do I pick up another stock yamaha front clutch(there is one on ebay right now)?
3. Do I try and save up the cash and get one of these performance Yamaha clutches that I have seen on CPP website?
4. Or do i pick up a clutch that will slide right on the clone crank without need of the tapered adapter?I think I will be giving up the factory stater and alternator if I do go with one of those.I don't believe they have a belt groove for the starter/generator.
I had thought of putting my wore out one back on for now when I get it together so atleast i could drive it.
Money is tight and I hope to get enough cash together this week for my engine,and the clutch adapter.I want to retain the stock generator for the charging.
anyone got an xtra decent clutch laying around they don't need?

Can't help you with anything else, but the sheave is replaceable for about $180.

Might want to go to "Bigblock" section and "devoure" all you can in the "clone" section. These guy's have done this already and you can save yourself alot of "trial and error". Good luck on your build

OK after a long day of running the skidloader and then helping the wife put up new fence boards on a turn out.I got a chance to snap a few pics of my old clutch for you guys to see,well see whats left of it anyways

Yes I fixed one just like that. I bought a new sheave for the stock primary and a new cut sheave (at different places) for the secondary that was also worn through. Nothing else and it worked quite well, the cut sheave gives a little lower gear on take off. I also stretched out the stock spring some. The next summer it was blowing oil and we put a clone 16 in it (last summer). Wow it works pretty nice now, double the power and runs mostly like stock yet. IIRC it was cheaper to buy the sheaves than a new clutch.

If you want a more performance clutch then it may be better to buy one, now is the time. If you want to keep the gen then you need one with the pulley and use the adaptor if you go to a 1" shaft engine. A used stock an adapter may be the cheapest, dunno, a clutch is what 300 and 50 for adapter.

Yeah a primary sheave is nearly 200, it was less when I did it 2yr ago and only 75 for a new cut secondary sheave.

If you're upgradinging the engine, upping on the clutch is a no-brainer in my opinion... good luck with whatever you decide.

It is, depends on your budget. The clone 16 has a lot of torque and does not rev that high, much like the stock engine, so it works well with the stock clutches. It will rev faster because it has more power. If you want a hard takeoff and all, then sure you better get a new clutch because you can't do much with the stock one. You don't really need a secondary spring with a clone or any big block, they have plenty of power...but the cut secondary I would recommend. With two guys on it will hit shift rpm in a couple seconds with the lower gear, it takes off good. It takes off harder on a hill though, more load more rpm, just the way stock works. It is still smooth in normal driving, and you will not get the harder engagement an aftermarket clutch can give. Still I can stop in the bottom of a ditch on the roadside and hit it, and it lofts the front tires out the other side.

Lol, my family ran that one until the rear sheave broke clean off and the belt fell off....what was left of the belt. The outer ring of the secondary broke off all the way around. He laughed, and we put all new stuff on.

It amazes me how long these things will run and perform. Even after they have past the useful mark and into the danger zone.
