Default G1 oil injection rebuild kit?

Finally have all the pieces of the engine and have begun reassembly.

The oil injection pump seemed to be working before I tore down the motor, but I'd kinda like to make sure, because I don't want to fry a brand new rebuild.

It didn't die from lack of lube, just old crank seals.

I know almost all other Yamaha oil injection pumps can be rebuilt. I've got Yammi dirt bikes and kits are cheap enough.

I also find that new oil pump assemblies have been discontinued from Yamaha.

I cannot find much info on the G1 oil pumps other than how to disconnect.

Can someone point me in the right direction, please and Thanks!

I deleted mine and premixed at 120:1 with Echo brand air cooled 2 cycle oil, worked fantastic. Most of us on here have deleted the oil injection because parts are not available. You might find NOS somewhere, but I've never seen anyone on here rebuild one. Too bad aftermarket doesn't make parts. Since you have experience with other Yamaha 2 strokes you might find some parts are interchangeable. Personally, I like the oil injection idea. However, the thought of it failing and not knowing made me uneasy, so I deleted.

If you get a factory Yamaha service manual it goes into the oil injection pump servicing and repair.

I second Slonomo. The oil pumps on these old carts, any old machine really, just aren't reliable in my opinion.

I disconnected mine and just to a mix. I use 100 to 1 but only because that's I have a lot of two cycle machines and 100 to 1 is pretty much the average mix ratios considering all of them. I don't want have to keep 10 different containers of gas with different ratios so I just averaged them out. A little more or a little less won't hurt anything.

I’d agree with slo also. Oil injection is a great idea... when it works. But it can “stop working” at any time without any notice. The only way you know is when the engine either starts knocking or seizes completely. I’ve always deleted the oil injection and premixed, with the exception of my kids old Suzuki LT80. It pumped way too much and smoked a plenty. I figured as long as it’s smoking, it’s good to go. If it stops smoking I’ve got issues
