Default Another Marathon project cart

After lurking on this site for a few years looking for inspiration and technical assistance, I'm finally ready to start a project thread. My dad gave me his 1989 Marathon with an aluminum bed that sat in his shed for the past several years (retired after he bought a side-by-side). He revived the batteries and we used it for a weekend at our lake house, but we soon discovered that either the charger was not working or the batteries were really shot. It sat outside at the lake since around July 2013. Yesterday I finally took the time to load it up and bring it to make it a functional cart.

Pictures are in this album

First order of business will be to see what's rusted and busted. Longer term is to set it up as a fun cart for our lake house. The list for enhancements is long and I will adjust it based on what basics need remediation.
  • New seats, rear seat, and paint or wrap
  • Lift kit and new offroad wheels/tires
  • Lights and rearview mirror (we can drive on the roads here)
  • Short term new batteries to get it usable for a season or two along with replacement or battery tray (I can see it is rusted through and one part actually fell off when I was loading it)
  • Longer term consideration for solid state conversion and 48v (Scottyb - you'll be hearing from me at some point)

I want to thank this forum for the wonderful information I've already learned and I will undoubtedly need your help as I get this beast up and running.
