Default Parking brake latch

So my parking brake wouldn't latch. I inspected the brakes and noticed they were worn down quite a bit. I replaced them today, and the parking brake still won't latch. Everything appears to be in working condition, it just won't quite engage the teeth. At first glance, they don't appear to be worn down in any way, it just likes maybe a milimeter or 2 from engaging.

Any have this same problem?

I had some issues with the fitting on the end of the rod that snaps onto the lever of the pedal being worn and cracked and so the length would get too long to engage. I first temp fixed it with some Teflon tape to get the threads to engage better but that quickly wore out and I finally had to epoxy it in place. Had to mark it where it was long enough to engage.

Pull that fitting off the back of the pedal and see if you can unscrew it to lengthen it a bit and see if it engages a time or two. If it moves on its own to not engage again then you probably have a cracked fitting and or worn off missing threads in the area it should be set in. That Rod has to be just long enough to engage them but not so long that it doesn't disengage. This all seems to happen within about a 1/4 inch either way. At least it seemed to me on mine it did.

Sounds like a common problem. I will inspect that tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip!
