Default What is the difference between a 96 and 98 txt rear axle?

I just bought a 96 txt that I have been in the process of doing a complete makeover on, and was given a traction control part for the rear end. I have noticed they are only made for 98 and up txt. What is the difference in the rear end of a 96 and 98?

the later models have a larger carrier assy. you will need this to install a posi traction control. you need to find a donor carrier, which i had to do with mine. every thing else is the same in there. actually, i believe the change was made in 99, but there may be some 98s with the larger carrier. mine is a 98. the carriers are easy to tell apart. the larger has two different sized spyders and in the small one they are all the same size. the one on the left is the donor.

The part I have is 2 metal plates with 4 orange springs and 4 smaller orange springs. Along with 2 metal rings. Is this the same thing you are talking about?
