Given the short run from the head-unit to the battery, I see no advantage in grounding to the chassis, go battery direct. And yes, fuse your B+ lead off the battery.

Is it a cd style indash radio? If so you will need to run the 12v contant and ground wires from the headunit to the battery. The ignition or 12v turn on wire from the deck needs to be hooked to the key switch on the cart so that when the key is turned then the headunit will turn on. This way you dont run the battery down and keep all the radio stations and settings without them being reset everytime.

Run your ground back to the battery. Yamahas dont like frame grounds and blow the main fuse in the solenoid box behind the battery. Yo can up the 10 amp to a 25 amp and ground to the frame but I'm not crazy about that method.

Take an ohm meter and find the 12v that runs off the keyed switch. That way your radio will turn on/off with the cart. If the radio has a memory wire, connect it directly to the + battery terminal. And do not ground radio to the chassis, connect to the - battery terminal.
