loose steering?
Is there any way to adjust the steering gear on an EZ-GO? My cart has a loose rack and typically in an automotive application, you can adjust the preload on the rack and pinion to loosen or tighten up the play. Is this possible with the EZ-Go rack? If so how?
Thanks, Mike |

Re: loose steering?
I don't think so. I think it is all held together with C ring clips / no adjustment. You can put new rack and pinion in them.
Maybe we can get a second opinion ..... |

Re: loose steering?
Well....I don't know what steering rack your talking about but it don't matter because there is not any "adjustments" that can be made. You can take it apart, clean it all up, check for wear and put it all back together using some new wear peices is about all you can do. If theres something loose you may be able to tighten it up a bit....but only if something is loose.

Re: loose steering?
Also, before you rebuild the rack, look at the rod ends to make sure thats not the problem.

Re: loose steering?
Mine has a little play too. There is a vertical shaft that transfers the motion from the rack to the rod ends. There is side to side play in that vertical shaft. I don't know if your year ezgo is the same, but check it out.
I haven't dug into it to find a fix, but thats the problem on mine. |
