Re: Using reverse for downhill brake assist
Moving parts aren’t the only parts that can fail.
A stalled armature will overheat at the commutator bars that are in contact with the brushes, and will overheat the windings that run along the length of the armature. If severe enough the commutator bars will warp or melt. The windings can melt and burn similar to how a wire or wrench shorted across a battery will. https://plumquick.com/bandit-electri...or-temperature Scroll down to the Motor Temperature section that has pictures of motor failures. |

Re: Using reverse for downhill brake assist
DIYgolfcart.com has a listing for 1986 and up Limited slip for CCs. Listing shows out of stock and there are no reviews on it. Wonder if that is a discontinued product I have heard about before? Maybe they just have not removed the listing. Might be worth a call. I'd be interested to hear.

Re: Using reverse for downhill brake assist
I sure hope the OP takes the advice here. I also hope he’s not trolling this board. I also hope he adjusts his brakes and drum shoe positioning to help compensate for the steep downhill slopes. Otherwise he’s facing a ticking problem time bomb.

Re: Using reverse for downhill brake assist
WTH would I be trolling the board? Yes, will be working on brakes, but also like to know the 'why' of things, not simply 'just do it'.

Re: Using reverse for downhill brake assist
Picture it this way Bigol3. If you put your car or truck in reverse while going down a hill, something is going to blow all to hell. Same thing with a cart.
