clutch stud repair
I am going to try to show how I repaired the stripped clutch cover studs
I welded a jig that fit the clutch bushing tightly with an offset towards the stud I needed to drill. I drilled through the bad studs thinking it would be more accurate but I was wrong. Cut the old studs off first then use a center finder and punch to mark the new holes. I drilled each stud and threaded them for 1/4-28, cut off three high grade bolts to thread in to 1/2 inch out and use locktite to fix. Since I was not fully accurate I had to file out about .005 for the cover to fit. Then I used 3 1/4-28 acorn nuts with washers and so far the fix is working. Try to add photos now and hope it works! |
