Need Help with Bolt Size and Thread
I have a 2002 ST480 with a 16hp Briggs Vanguard in it. I have an oil leak behind the flywheel so I need to remove the flywheel to replace the seal and bushing.
I have a steering wheel puller however none of my puller bolts will thread in easily. A 5/16 course thread will start and so will an 8mm 1.50 but neither will thread without force that I don't want to do. I have lubed the holes to no avail so I really need to know if the threads are metric or american and what pitch thread number it is. I don't want to screw up the threads if the are just dirty or rusty with a tap without knowing what tap to use. Any help would be appreciated. I have goggled the web to no avail and even searched this website and found nothing. |

Re: Need Help with Bolt Size and Thread
Never mind my post above, I figured it out myself. Just in case someone goggles this same question it is a 5/16x18 thread pitch on the 16hp engine in my buggy.
Of course this goes with a disclaimer that I am not sure they are all that size but it worked on my application. |
