retractable power cord for on board charger?
I am going to mount an on-board charger on my cart and would like to add a retractable power cord to my cart. Anyone done this? What did you use, and where/how did you mount it?
Thanks |

Re: retractable power cord for on board charger?
I had thought about doing something like this on a trailer. I was planning on using a retractable cord reel like available at most any hardware store. Then just cut the ends off & install the appropriate ends needed for your application.
One issue I see with it in your case is that you will need to find a reel with the right gauge & length wire in it. |

Also there is a place to purchase one of these that are setup the right way... with the pull portion the male plug and for nearly half the price of Home Depot with the pull portion the female plug. Check out the link below! http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=RR-8125 |

Re: retractable power cord for on board charger?
I have been thinking about doing this to mine also. You want to look how much amps your charger will be pulling and make sure the cord can compensate, if not it could cause damage. My charger is a QuiQ 36v and I have it mounted under the seat on the drivers side. I was thinking about mounting the power cord in the bagwell. When I finally get some time to work on my ezgo Ill be sure to post some pics.

Re: retractable power cord for on board charger?
Thanks scubabud, looks like a neat setup. I have a quiq charger like curly33333, and need a 14 gauge cord instead of 16 guage. The cheapest one I could find in 16-3 was about $50.
Curly33333, You said you mounted your 36 volt quiq directly underneath the seat? Is it wood? Does the charger get very hot? |

Here is the best deal I could find on a 14-3 cord.
