Default Electric Club Car 1996 drive slipping on accel

Hi,

I am a newbie and need some help. My cart acts like the clutch is slipping on accell, but it is an electric cart. Not so bad on pavement, but when on grass, slips real bad. Batteries are good. HELP.

Are you sure it's not the tires spinning on the grass and not pavement? I've never seen a Club Car rear end go bad, so that's pretty much ruled out. Your motor may be improperly aligned. Club Car sells a centering kit.

It does it both on grass and pavement, however worse on grass (more drag).

Hubs?

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't slip. When they go bad they are completely sheared as far as I know.

Club Cars do not have hubs, so they're out of the equation.

I would opt for the motor centering kit.

it may be the larger rubber grommet in the motor. It is what links to the splines connecting to the rear end. It can wear and cause the problems you mentioned.

Either way, it will require taking motor out, if its good great, put centering kit in, if its bad, do both..

I work at a S. Mich golf course and have a similar problem with 8 of our 121 2000/2001 Club Car DS carts. The easiest way to explain it is that it feels like a belt drive vehicle with belt slipping. Terrain and grass/pavement are not a factor. I pulled the motors out and checked the splined shaft but not the rubber grommet that is mentioned in other posts. I have switched out the motor with a known good one and the problem persisted. I have also run all diagnostic test from the service manual and still have not solved the problem. I wil check the grommet but does anyone have any other suggestions. These are regen carts by the way.

I have a 03 series that I am having the same problem with. I have also changed the motor out with a known working motor and the problem continues. I have checked for a rubber grommet on both motors but can't find one. I have jacked the unit up and it appears that it has a limited slip differential ? when you turn one wheel the other turns in opposite direction ! While accelerating with the rear wheels off the ground I can actually stop them from turning with little effort , yet the motor appears to still be running I am stumped.... Someone Help Please... The Serial # on my cart is AA0329-300780

Did anyone ever resolve this? I'm having the same problem with my 2000 DS. I'm new to carts but mechanical. To me, it feels like the drive belt is "toothed" and loose or worn so the belt slips (the more I accelerate, the more it slips). I don't know if that's true, just what it feels like. I'm disabled and use my cart daily, so any input is much apreciated.
