Default 2000 TXT 36v speed assistance

I just bought a 2000 TXT 36v. It has brand new batteries (12/23), brand new charger.

I've done some of my own research and pretty much know it's a series with the "slide" FNR (already plans to change to a push button switch).

I'm needing help with the speed. She's SLOW. I've gotta be a baller on a budget and the wife is kinda limiting what I can spend. Could replacing the controller and solenoid add some speed to the mix or do I need to do more?

Any help appreciated. Still getting my feet wet in the golf cart world.

You can approach this a couple ways. You can either do controller/solenoid or a high speed motor

I'd like to leave the motor alone for now...eventually I'll change everything out, but would like to not mess with it unless I have to.

I know there are a TON of controllers out there. I'm not currently needing/wanting a ton. Getting me close to or over 20 would be great. Just not sure which controller to go with.

I will eventually switch to 48v, so was leaning towards a 36/48 controller.

Also, looking at larger tires as the wheels/tires are stock.

From my understanding, getting+/- 20mph from a series cart is going to be a little difficult and quiet expensive. There's a lot of people on here who talk about the Curtis clone controllers that can be purchased for less than $200 shipped and they are 36/48 controllers. Then you'll need bigger solenoid and a hd fnr switch and if I remember correctly that should get you into the mid teens on flat ground

FNR switch is already on radar. Tired of getting a workout. lol.

New controller/solenoid is there too. Just not sure which to purchase. I'd think those and bigger tires would at least get me close to 20.

I need to actually measure MPH. Wife complains that she can "walk faster"

It's possible. I'm not a series cart guy so I'm just relaying what I have read in the past, that series carts are by nature slow. But with a bigger controller and bigger tire you will definitely gain top speed. How much, not sure. But it won't hurt and depending on where you are located you can pick up a plum quick motor for fairly cheap. I only paid $350 for mine

When I got mine I just spent a day calling all the GC shops local to me and asked if they had any motors for my cart and most did for a pretty penny then one shop said they had a shelf full of PQs for $350 each out the door. So I would call your local shops and see if anyone has anything in your price range. With the motor swap it's 3 bolts holding it to the axle plus the 4 cables and you can achieve the same speed with less work IMO

Thanks. I might give that a shot. Also measured the speed last night. I'm getting 8 mph. I think the controller is/already is going bad, or might need to be reprogramed.

I know it can be programed without a handheld but I don't know where to begin on them.

juscott22.....I too have a series cart....had it about 10 years and you can see in my sig all thats been done to it.

NOW....seeing as how you want to go faster.....you will HAVE to get a high speed motor. for even if you get a bigger controller.....your speed will remain the same.
