Club Car 8 inch lift
I have a 2000 gas club car with an 8 inch lift on her.
Finally, got her put all back together as PO had stripped her down. Got her running with some fine tuning and carb cleaning left to do. Wanted to know what would be the suggested tire size for a stock fe290? 23s or 25s? dont plan on doing any major off roading. dont plan on putting in a bigger engine either. may do some minor bypass mods but that is it. What configuration of wheel and tire size would you or do you run with an 8 inch lift? I take some pics and post her up in a couple of days. thanks |

Re: Club Car 8 inch lift
Well I have a 01 ds with 8" on 24's with the 290 and I get a little rubbing every now n then on the rear inner wheel-well , so for that I would think the 25's would be even more of an issue there.
I had a set of used 23's on before I got the new 24's I wanted and I can say the differance between the 23's with about half tread and the new 24's was like night and day. It's surprising how that little of a change does to your gear ratio. The 23's was slower on a hill but not bad, my 24's , cart falls on its face, but flat ground they are awesome, but I've always had the intent to upgrade my motor to a 23 hp. In my opinion if you do not intend on a motor upgrade stay away from 25's, I not only think your cart will barely pull a hill (road grade hill)it would be worse than mine and mine is pretty bad, you will also have rubbing issues. I would either stay with your 23 idea or look into 24's. |

Re: Club Car 8 inch lift
Thanks for the GREAT reply my man. I guess for now I will look for some 23s. If I decide to change her engine up I will go from there.
Now I need to find a place with decent prices or a USED set due to the shipping cost to send them out here to the Pacific. Hahaha. Oh well, always an adventure with this cart. |

Re: Club Car 8 inch lift
ALSO, and not to start another thread....
The rear lift on the cart is noticably lower than the front. It appears to almost be a whole two inches off. Do some lifts come with the front higher that the rear? 8 front and 6 rear? Or is it more likely that the PO mixed and matched it as such. Regardless, what would be the pros and cons of having it set up with the front two inches higher than the rear????? |

Re: Club Car 8 inch lift
No... You get the other two inches in the rear on the axle it's self. Since you do a leaf over axle that alone is actualy about 2.5 inches then adding your 6 inch blocks gives you the rest of your lift. (does that make sence to ya ?)
in other words if you didn't buy a lift and just moved your axle from on top of the rear leaf springs to the under side of the leafs would lift your cart aprocamatly 2.5 inches. |

Re: Club Car 8 inch lift
OK. I need to take a look at it when I get home.
From what I can remember, I beleive the PO did put the leaf over axle. Also, I think there is only a 2 to 4 inch block under her. I will re check and hopefully take some pics of her to post it up..... |

Re: Club Car 8 inch lift
also, anyone in Hawaii or at least west coast that has some tires and wheels for sale? Not gonna be pickey cause now I see that those stocks are just not cutting it....
Well maybe a little bit pickey on the price I would have to ship them out here to me. And of course the size, nothing bigger that 23s. Let me know please...... Last edited by Ningker; 02-18-2012 at 07:10 AM.. Reason: info |

Re: Club Car 8 inch lift
measure your running board from the front to the ground and the rear of it to the ground. my cart is a true 8" lift and my rear blocks are much taller than what you got back there. im adding a pic of the back and a pic of my cart before i changed out my tires
