When you go to buy one get a good one. My dad bought one of those cheap Chinese units and it will barely cut a piece of steel. He later bought a Dewalt and it'll cut through stuff like butter.

I got a Hitachi, looks like a cheap-o, but works very good. Almost all my tools at work are Hitachi, and they really seem to hold up well.

I bought one from Menards (home improvement store) for about $140 that came with a blade and laser to line the cut up. It works NICE

Re: chop saw
I was going to buy a chop saw but ended up buying one of those 6 inch table model steel band saws.. Its great I can lay a 6 inch beam in there lower the cutter top and when its done it shuts itself off.

Re: chop saw
I want a chop saw for Christmas. Home Depot has a nice Dewalt for $179 or I was also looking at one from Harbor Freight for $60. I don't know which to get, Santa is on a tight budjet this year.
