Default Big Block Engine and Clutch

If you were going to buy a Big Block engine and clutch for your cart what would you get.

I currently have a 23hp Vanguard that has issues and I can't get the clutch off. So going a different direction.

I was looking at the 18hp Vanguard but not sure what clutch to use with it.

What do you guys have and what is the best option.

I don't have a vanguard but do have a clone. The vegascarts supplied 780 worked like a champ right out of the box.I am sure others will weigh in.

Comet 780 would be good. Another good choice, although more expensive, is the Team Industries Rapid Response clutch. I have the 780 on my 16hp Vanguard and it's a great clutch. I have heard that the Rapid Response clutch is super smooth and it holds up to more power.

I have a nasty 18HP Vanny and my clutch preference is the Comet Duster 94C. Torque out the wazoo and almost 50 mph top speed. Best of both worlds.

First, I'd take some PB Blaster and soak the crap out of the mating surface on your engine and clutch. (Really really well) Then, use a rubber mallot and hit out side sheave but on the inner side.(Confusing) Rotate several times and continue the same strategy. That should work. Exhaust all options before purchasing something you may already have.

Don't hit you clutch with anything. Spray generously with pb blaster as said before for a couple days. After that, cut the head off a bolt that slides inside where the mounting bolt goes through till its 1/2 inch inside that hole. Then take the bolt that mounts the clutch to the motor and it should back the clutch off. If not, spray liberally with pb blaster again and try the next day.

What issues does the 23 have. I'd get the clutch off and do what's needed to the engine you already have. Rebuild it even and still have less in it than replacing with something different.

Good luck with getting it apart.

I do have a Team Rapid Response clutch and like it so far. It does work smooth. I did some damage to mine though and had to clean it up a bit. It's now working ok again, but I can't get the belt to run all the way to the top of the clutch. That could be due to the belt being too tight though. (Which I just thought about)

I and many others are using a comet 780. Some have good luck with a comet 94c. Do you have any interest any selling that 23? I'm an interested buyer if so.

Field....you are correct. It's a process, first step is admitting you have a problem. I just can't get past the first step though.
