2pg ignition coil
Anybody found a workaround in replacing the std $80 to $100 coil with something more reasonably priced? I can feel the output of mine, but it's not strong enough to jump the spark plug gap.

Re: 2pg ignition coil
before you buy a coil. Buy a replacement capacitor and clean the points. The capacitor is all important in achieving a good hot spark. If both of these steps fail, then consider buying a new coil. In most cases, a 50's - 70's standard automotive coil is all you need 6 or 12 volt, but 12 volt is preferred. Get one out of a junk car or buy the cheapest one that you can find in an auto parts store. Just make certain that it is the shape and style that is needed to fit. The mounting bracket from your old coil might even fit.

Trying to not force my 1939 body to bend that far into a 1989 engine. Ain't as easy as it once was. And coil is 1/8th the size of my '70s Ford coils. Pix attached... maybe...

Re: 2pg ignition coil
Just about any coil will work. Note that some coils are internally resisted and others not. It could be that the coil you have now has to much resistance built into it. You can measure resistance by using a volt meter on the ohm setting and measure across the small terminals on a coil.

Re: 2pg ignition coil
It would help if you tell us what you are putting this coil into. Make, Model, Year and/or a good photo of the vehicle, so we can recognize it, would help a whole lot.
