Default carb linkage

New to Buggies, today. Need a clear picture of how the carb linkages are connected. Downloaded a manual but the pictures are so dark you can't see anything. I bought a 1981 H-D 3 wheeler gas from a friend who got it from the family of someone who died of Covid. I am a certified auto mechanic, this is my first cart. Going to use it as a pit cruiser at the track. Any help would be great.
Thanks
Doc

What throws most people about these is that the throttle arm on the carb is sprung backwards from how every other engine works. With no cables hooked up the throttle springs to wide open.

The reason they did this is for the governor. In stock form there would be 2 cables going through the throttle arm and neither one actually attaches to it. They both are either bent into hooks or have stops so either one can pull the throttle closed and the other one can just float. Lower one wins, take your foot off the gas throttle gets yanked shut no matter what the gov says. Gov kicks in it sucks it shut even if you have it floored.

With the gov removed which most were as soon as they left their original golf courses you just have the gas pedal cable. Since it works backwards you should just leave it with the stock floating arrangement with the stop or hook.

X2 on what 73Eldo said.

It's hard to envision even with pics. You need to think backwards with that carb linkage. On most engines, the throttle linkages pulls the carb open. On the HD / Columbias, the linkage pulls it shut. When you hit the gas, the choke spring pulls the throttle open. When you get off the gas, the linkage spring pulls it shut. Obviously, with no linkage attached, the carb is wide open.
