Conversion to Lithium on a 72v L6
I have a 2018 L6 72v and I am considering a switch to Lithium.
Wondering if anyone had done it on this same platform and how straightforward the swap from LA to Li would be. My controller was reprogrammed back in 2018 by Bob Boyce and I am also wondering if this will affect anything. I have a few years left on my Trojans so if waiting until lithium is better developed and more available that is a possibility also. Just starting to lose a little bit of torque on hills with my 5-year-old pack so I am looking at options. Thanks for any insight or advice anyone may have! Jeff |

I have the same setup and same situation. Bob visited me during Covid and programmed my cart. I have had range issues since, and have thought about the lithium conversion. Did you end up making the swap?

Looking into this conversion for the same 72v L6 cart. Hopefully someone who has done this can chime in.

There’s been no response from anyone who’s actually done the conversion but I don’t see why it would be any more difficult or complex than any other LA to Lithium conversions.

Honestly it's probably even more doable on these carts, there's lots of space to mount things and those stock controllers can be current limited through programming to match you battery capability.

Make sure you go for a 72v battery though, not 6 x 12v batteries.

Re: Conversion to Lithium on a 72v L6
I did a couple 72v conversions on some Cushman Haulers (same manufacturer) without any problems. I went with Summit. I haven't had any problems after a year. It's basically just drop in the new batteries and hook them up, very simple. You may want to put in a new battery tray, I don't know what they look like on the 2018 shuttles. I'd recommend keeping the charger onboard.

I’m in the same boat. I have a 72volt txt 2017 w/ acid batteries and looking to change over to lithium, possibly the Navitas controller/motor an Eco battery but trying to learn it all. I’m not sure if I need the motor or can use my same motor.
