I’ve got (2) MCI carts that are giving me all sorts of fits with losing power after running a bit so ive been doing ALOT of calling/researching/running around and I found that EZGO has now discontinued all the OEM part numbers for the ignition system components. Talk about a bummer!

Hey twilliams, did you have any luck with your MCI carts? I have what seems like a similar issue on mine, AFTER a rebuild so I'm leaning towards the ignition system maybe, as well?

Oil pumps on these suck. I replaced one a few years ago and I just put it in the shop again with a low oil pressure issue. The tech says it's the oil pump again. No surprise there.

The pump itself is usually fine, its the plate that holds it all on that usually needs replacing. I fit the older pre mci plate and usually solves it. O ring selection is also critical. too fat and it will not pull the oil up to the basically rubbish cam oiling system. I still think the pre MCI should be available, even if it was cloned or built under licence by a reputable overseas manufacturer. About the only thing preventing continued use of the older engine is lack of reliable ignition parts.

I replaced the pump and the plate, when I did the replacement. I'm not sure what all is causing the problem this time but the tech said the pump is definitely not pumping correctly which really sucks because everything was fine when I started my custom build. Now that I'm done (except paint) the stupid thing keeps reporting low pressure.

Hmm ... it sounds like it might have been an oil pump issue that caused the cam to seize in the head of my 2006 MCI engine.

Lesson learned. I'm looking for a Vanguard as a replacement (But they seem scarce).
