Re: 24mm Experimental Carburetor
The emulsion tubes in the 24mm bored carb are bigger cause its a dual circuit main jet setup. I was experimenting and needed a replacement emulsion tube and none of the carburetors I have would interchange with the 24mm. This carburetor is the largest version Ruxin style I have seen. It's for a 625cc engine originally.

Re: 24mm Experimental Carburetor
What all can we do or buy to make this carb better for a 420 and a 460 engine?

Re: 24mm Experimental Carburetor
The first and most important task is to remove the epoxied air/fuel mixture screw. It's been adjusted - sealed - the head of the screw has been broken off. Some folks have tried to drill it out and a few have succeeded -- but what are they using for an adjuster screw? ----------- I make mine on my lathe from brass thumb screws. After you have that done - install an adjustable main jet. Then you'll have a decent 24mm carb.

Re: 24mm Experimental Carburetor
Shoot, I dont really want to mess up this carb as they are $45 to get another.
If not what’s the next best carb to run on a 420 and a 460? I have a pwk 32mm that is set up decent, not perfect but decent, and per my draggy gps racing info, the vc carb was 1/2 second faster in the 1/8th mile. |

Re: 24mm Experimental Carburetor
I've run the adjustable main jet from Shepard for a while and it's been great. I also hand drilled the other jets to tune the 24mm. Runs great, but I'm stepping g up to a Nibbi 32mm flat slide carb this week. Trying to figure out what jets to run in it at the moment. I've seen RBG used a mikuni 32mm on his with the go power sports 401 big jet kit with good luck.
I'll be selling this 24mm soon if anyone is interested. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |
