Default Programming Curtis Controller

Hey ya all!

I got a quick question for ya.. I need some info on programming curtis controllers. Or more simply, what do you all use, and how do you do it.. I know curtis has a handheld device, and software to use, but is that the only option.

Basicaly i am looking to reprogram curtis 1236 and 1238 controllers.

Any help would be greatful.. I have programmed many alltrax controllers in the past, its super simple to do in any context, but i havent seen any type of rs232 port or type like that on any curtis controllers.

I quickly looked around and found this
http://curtisinst.com/index.cfm?fuse...tegory&catID=7

i just downloaded the manuals as we speak, but from what ive read, the 1236 and 1238 might not work with these conventional programmers. I might be wrong.

This has alot of the info i was lookin for, but i dont know what type of interface the 1236 or 1238 uses, and how to reprogram it. Im not a pro when it comes to writing binary stuff..

Overall im just wondering if anyone on the fourm has ever reprogramed a curtus controller, and which way did they do it?

Ok, i did some more rummaging around, all i need to know is info on the interface that you use when using the Curtis PC programming station software.. If anyone has pics of the interface that would be awesome.. i know that there is some dealers that have this that look through this fourm.

I would need a pic of the pc hookup, either usb or serial. the interface box, and the cables that come out of it, into the controller.

I already have the pinout for the 1236 controllers "interface" pins

It would be awesome help!

Hello Monsterezgokid,
I am also looking to do the exact same thing as you. Please let me know if you find anything. I will if I do.

BTW, the interface you have circled is the CAN interface. The interface below it is the serial interface so if you are trying to find anything search for both.

thank you,
Prasad

Yea, sorry for the confusion, yea i made a mistake on that pic.. i am looking for the serial interface setup.. I found out that the CAN interface is just for syncing up multiple controllers and such.. like for those in wheelchairs and multi motor applications.

I mean, it looks like i can wire in a simple serial conection between it and my pc, but am unsure if there is a special interface box.. I dobut it, but in the curtis diagrams, it says you need it.. But it could just be a simple passthrough.. no actual function for the box. other then to convert usb to serial.

The place to download the software is indicated on my previous post... top of this page, or bottom of page 89.

Monsterezgokid,
you could try it. Please read from other sources as well. Connect Curtis pin 28, 29, 7, 25 (molex 3,1,2,4) to RS232 pin 2, 3, 5 & 9. You will have to disconnect the battery bank but still power up the controller's ST10 which I don't quite know how to do.

Monsterezgokid,
actually that might not be the right way to connect the controller to a PC. You might want to do a search for 'max232-serial-level-converter'. One site is http://sodoityourself.com/max232-serial-level-converter. You could also buy a kit - search for item #110374330143 on ebay. This is a kit - you will have to do the assembling/soldering yourself.

BTW, was curious what software are you going to use to program?
