300 or 400 amp?
i am going to go with the 48 volt upgrade first. i have a 95 fleet cart with the 36 volt motor that i will leave stock for now. i have 8" lift and 24x11x10 tires. since i will have to buy a new controller what should i get a 300amp or 400 amp controller? how many amps will the stock motor and stuff actually pull? i need to save all the money i can. where can i get a 48 volt solenoid for a good price? thanks guy's

Do not settle for 300a turning 24's, you won't be happy, and it won't last long.

Shop around, check with the site sponsor. Carts Zone carries lots of electric cart parts and they have decent deals on Alltrax controllers.

Re: 300 or 400 amp?
Go at least 400amp. You may want to upgrade your motor later, also 25" tires are going to need some torque to turn. I was shopping around the other day for an Alltrax controller. I was thinking a 500amp would handle anything I could throw at it. I found one, an AXE model for $409. I thought that was a good price., but looking further I found the AXE 650 amp model for $429. I ordered that one. Every other place was wanting over $500 for one.

Re: 300 or 400 amp?
Yes, unless you want the re-programable feature its just fine. When ordering make sure you get the right throttle type because you can't re-program once you get it, you just send it back and get the right one.

why does it say it's not for lifted carts? will it not put out as much amps as a programmable 400 amp controller?

I think the Kelly controller is a good budget controller. The big advertising thing now-a-days is "continuous and peak amp output"....where they say for example 500 amps continuous....well, its marketing hype.(just an example) I don't know of any golf car application that needs 500 amps continuous power to keep moving, once you get going your amps output drops. Kelly has a lower continuous max output where as alltrax has a higher continuous max output. . |

Re: 300 or 400 amp?
Go with as many amps as you can reasonably budget. You'll find that you never have enough speed or torque.
