Box for radio under roof
I am looking for ideas/pictures from anyone that has built a box for an under roof radio/speakers mount on a 96 electric EZGO. I want to build it out of 1/4" plywood. Any ideas?

Re: Box for radio under roof
Metra 99-9000 would give the radio a nice clean place to mount and potentially save you some work.

Re: Box for radio under roof
Thanks SonicJ. I am looking to build something that i can mount the radio and speakers in overhead. I thought about building a box using 1/4 plywood and then using 1/8 to bend some curves for the speakers. My intent is to make it look like some of the overhead consoles you buy for $100 +... I was hoping to see some pictures of ones others have built.

Re: Box for radio under roof
when i worked in car audio the box guys would build the unseen portion of the box out of wood, then also cut some rings for the speakers out of wood. the rings were held in position using small pieces of wood. to achieve that nice custom molded look, sweatshirt or t-shirt material was stretched over the entire box. add a couple coats of fiberglass resin and some glass where necessary, then cut out the holes for you speakers & radio. after some sanding & bondo we would send it to the paint shop for spraying. the trick was the shirt material... it stretches and conforms to make those flawless bends and curves with ease. make sense?

Re: Box for radio under roof
Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. I am thinking of copying gornoman's idea. I dont think i am talented enough to do the fiberglass. I found a Kenwood stereo with 2- 6 1/2" speakers and remote at Walmart for $80. I think might start working on the box this weekend.
