I have only a guess as to the answer to your question but, I am glad to see you are continuing with the motor modification experiments
I enjoyed reading and watching what you have done so far with this

I've read where if you go too far one way or the other it'll heat up. I've thought about it just never looked into it. Might check or search "RC car motors", they do allot of that stuff. I'm waiting on super cheap brushless system to come out. The RC speed controllers are pushing a few hundred amps now, right at stock golf cart controller amps. Some of the high end marine water cooled controllers more than that.

What i have found so far with the brush timing is in colf car motors the brushes are set to a 0 degree time.

because the motors run both forward and reverse.

if the brushes are advanced in forward rotation you will gain speed but its retarded by that amount in reverse direction wich can cause more arc on the com

and yes heat is an issue with this kind of mod to the motor, if its advanced to far
it will overheat

OK here is what i have found with changing the timing

I took a stock motor and made another set of brush mounts

installed the motor and took it for a test spin...and..

thinking the motor would spin the same as the tire direction advanced the brushes in that direction....nope

with this set up it goes a max of 12 MPH forward...but.

It will do 17 in reverse...wow

and this is just a stock motor, not a rewind

and another thing is that with it being retarded in forward it heated up kinda quick, not so much to burn the motor up but hot enuf you cant leave your hand on the motor...

so it looks like the speed will increase in proportion to the amount of advancement in the brush set.
and easy way to get that extra speed you may be looking for without breaking the bank...
BUT let me do some more testing to make sure that there are no adverse effects in the long run

ok I got the brush set advanced in the right direction

and ive been running the cart all around my little part of the world for a good test to see if the motor heats up,,

so far so good the motor gets warm as normal but not burning hot. and it seems to have a good amount of torque, its not going to do wheelies but advancing the brushes did not seem to effect the torque.

the only thing is reverse, maxed out at 10 mph. But there is no need to go 30 backwards.

after a good 8 mile trip around the block a few times shes still going strong

motor just gets warm and holds a steady 17 mph

and it doesnt seem to drag the batteries down any faster

but i onlu advanced it about 1-3 degrees

seems like a nice easy mod to get that little extra speed
