Default Problems Removing Motor

This is probably a stupid question but here it goes. I have a 2005 EZGO TXT and am removing the stock motor. I took out the three bolts on the motor after disconnecting the power cables and cables to the motor. However, am having problems getting the motor to release to pull out. Am I missing some bolts other than the three I removed or is there some special mojo that I need to put on the thing to get it to release? Please let me know because I would love to get the new motor in this thing.

Cool Re: Problems Removing Motor

Does anybody have any suggestions on this? I have lightly tried a crow bar and rubber mallet and was able to get about a 1/8 inch gap. I read a post that somone used PB Blaster along with this method to get their motor out. Just not sure why it is so hard to get this thing pulled off and do not want to tear anything up.

Good luck, There are only three bolts. Hopefully it's not rust welded on to the splines like my club car was. Had to destroy the old motor to get it off and this is with the axle on a work bench. If you do get it off, apply some anti-seize to the splines before putting everything back together.

Here's a link to my Holy Stuck Motor thread.

try this: spray a lil pb blaster inbetween motor and rear end then bolt a battery cable like a handle on the motor have someone push the cart back and forth while you pull on the motor it will come right out i do this atleast once a week ;)

Unfortunately some motors are stuck. The penetrating oil is a great idea. Whatever you do, just take your time

Oh - I didn't see that! If you don't want to save the old motor, pull the casing off first, then go afetr the armature. We've had some stuck so bad in the past that the cutting torch had to make an apperance. I hope yours doesn't go that way

All, after using PB Blaster a rubber mallet and a flat crow bar I finally got my motor to break loose. Cleaned up the spline with PB Blaster and put the new GE Beast motor on my cart. It now has some serious torque.....Thanks for all your input. I will post a picture of the cart soon.
