Re: high speed magnet
They work great for allowing your cart to use all available power. They don't give you more power but trick your speed controller into thinking you are going slower so it doesn't slow you down. There are plenty of great threads on this.

Re: high speed magnet
I hope you don't mind me jumping in here but I was going to ask the same question. The following is my Serial Number AA0140-075899, Would it speed my cart up by using one of these magnets?

Re: high speed magnet
No. Your vehicle has a series drive system. If you had a prefix of AQ or PQ you'd be ready to rock n' roll.

Re: high speed magnet
They work great, probably the single best inexpensive mod you can do to start out in modding carts. Currently, you can use the Magnets on Club Car Precedent IQ drive with GE and AMD motors. There is also a magnet out there for EZGO PDS systems. I've sold a ton of them all over the net. And they typically net 2-5 mph based on your carts setup

Re: high speed magnet
So is there any downside like overheating or over revving the motor? Or did CC just install a cheap way to govern the cart so as to keep the lawyers happy.

Re: high speed magnet
The magnet is part of the speed sensor circuit.
The logic to control the speed is in the Controller software, but it is based on the pulses received from the sensor. I guess it is possible to over rev the motor before loosing control of the cart if You are going down hill, similar to what you can do with a series drive system or using another controller without the speed sensor closed loop. It is all about them lawyers and government regulations. |

Re: high speed magnet
As technology got better, golf cars became capable of going faster. 20 years ago you had a series car that wasn't capable of 15 mph. Now you've got IQ cars that are capable of 20-22mph if left ungoverned. That's why the speed regulation was added. It's possible to over-rev any motor, but the risk of overrevving is the same when comparing a series car to an IQ car with a speed magnet.
