solenoid problems
hi new here im having a problem ive got a ez go medalist 98 model ran fine went into a dip and lost power now it want run and when you turn the key on you can here the solenoid click in wjthought pressing the pedal and it want move need help bad thanx

Is it a Series drive or DCS?
If it has a Run/Tow switch on controller cover, it is a DCS. Was the "dip" full of water, or did it just bottom out hard? Sounds like more than one problem. Solenoid clicking when key is turned on without pedal being pushed, tells me the microswitch in the pedal box is bad (NC contacts closed when they should be) Not running will take some troubleshooting, but need to know what type drive system to troubleshoot. |

Be careful working on it. Secure it from moving. Jack stands or some method to keep the rear wheels from surface. It can lurch forward or backwards without warning when key turned on. Had it happen to me once. This was caused by problem with micro switch in pedal box. JohnnieB is some of the best help you can find.

Rinse any item that got wet with alcohol. It will help displace any water. Use Golden Grain. Throttle and any microswitches are likely subjects. If the controller got wet, it can be opened and rinsed and dried. Dirty water can leave conductive deposits on the circuit boards. I've also had success using distilled water and a desiccant such as those found in vitamin bottles or rice.

it is a dcs drive system and there was no water in the dip but before it done that every thing worked fine shouldn't it still have power if the switch was stuck the solenoid is kicking in but I noticed no resistor on it any help would be appreciated thanx

In a DCS drive system, those symptoms could be caused by a bad controller, or by two separate problems caused by the same physical event. Energizing the solenoid is a two step process: 1. B+ is applied to one side of the solenoid's coil via the Reed switch, Run/Tow switch, F/R switch and the Keyswitch. We know that B+ is getting to the solenoid because it clicks. 2. The controller applies B- to the other side of the solenoid coil via Pin-7. Normally, the controller does not apply B- until the NC contacts of the pedal microswitch close (pedal pushed), but it appears to be doing so all the time. Therefore, the pedal switch is bad, OR the controller is bad, OR B- is somehow being shorted to the Blue wire between Pin-7 and the solenoid coil. Let's fix this one before troubleshooting the not running issue. Also, don't worry about not having a Pre-charge resistor installed for the time being. It isn't needed to troubleshoot system. Get the cart running and install one later. |

I'd check the reed switch, regardless of whether the solenoid is "clicking". The pedal micro may be the clicking he's hearing. Those reed switches are glass encapsulated in plastic.
