Default Re: Help with G1 blowing a fuse

okay.. I know this may be a silly question, but at this point should I go ahead and hook everything back up? starter generator, solenoids etc???? I did notice the foot pedal negative wire bullet connector may not have been secure enough so I will replace the connector. The only other bad connection was the ground for the headlight..that broke away from the frame where I had it connected.. but I think this was after the fuse started blowing? By chance could either one of these ground points be the culprit? In any case,... Hook everything back up and double check all connectors and connections.. yes??? and then focus on the red positive wires.

Headlights? Whoops.. I didn’t ask and you didn’t mention headlights. My bad. Any accessories added to a G1 need to be wired with all negatives returning to the battery negative terminal, NOT the frame. I doubt this is an issue for this particular problem, but you may want to rethink your wiring. On my cart, I added a simple terminal strip from a Amazon or wherever. I added a wire from my negative battery post to this board. (Also a wire from my positive). This gives me a place to easily add circuits with each one coming from and returning to the battery without using the frame. The only additions I have are headlights / taillights and a horn. Each oh these I routed through a relay just to ease the load going through my ignition switch, etc.
So, you can look into these suspect connectors, but I’m not thinking a bad ground will make your frame hot.
Did you disconnect the positive leads as I suggested?

no...I still need to hook up the SG. The only accessory on this cart is one headlight, which I will leave disconnected for now. I am not seeing any place where a wire could make contact with the frame, although I have yet to inspect the ignition switch. Can I at least rule out the SG being that it passed the bench test??? And should I even bother taking apart the key switch???
